I wasn’t seeking employment at the time, but after spending a week at home on sick leave absolutely run down, I knew something had to change. On the Friday, I received a call to gauge my interest in an opportunity with Stantec in Gisborne. In less than 2 weeks, I had taken the opportunity and resigned. I didn’t really give myself time to get cold feet, I was all in but when time drew closer to starting, I was beginning to wonder if I had signed my time away to a corporate. That was a little daunting, but I was soon surprised.

I didn’t think employers like Stantec existed. A large organisation that cares and invests in their people in a way which makes it feel like a family. On a day-to-day basis, I am located remotely from the teams that I work with but am very connected and know exactly what’s happening on the coal face.
